In 2008 the Ricola Collection began to collect art created for the Internet. Unlike the paintings, works on paper, and photographs in the collection, these electronic works are not exhibited in the company’s premises but can be accessed on screen (“Intra-Art”). In addition to Internet works, works in the older media of video and animation will also be collected.
The Ricola Collection is breaking new ground with this area of collecting. Although art has been produced for the Internet for years, there are few collections that address this new medium.
